A Message from Gary Horgan
A message from Horgs
On behalf of myself, the staff, the players and everyone connected with Chippenham Town FC. I would simply like to say a massive thank you to all the Bluebirds fans for the incredible support we received yesterday against Burton Albion. We were genuinely humbled and honoured to receive such support throughout the entire game and at full time when we were disappointed as a collective at the result, the deafening noise and reception we walked over to receive was truly heartwarming!
I have been with Chippenham a long time, and have had some memorable times, but yesterday is a moment, despite the result, that will live with us as a group forever. To take close to 700 supporters away and to have the kind of atmosphere we played in yesterday was amazing and is something we will never forget. My only regret is that we couldn’t give you one extra step in our FA Cup journey, but upon reflection I am incredibly proud of the players, the club and all its wonderful hard-working staff for making history and reaching this stage of the competition. Defeats are never easy to take, whoever the opposition is, but your incredible support will transition us out of the initial pain of the defeat. Huge credit must go to Burton Albion as well, a clinical team from the Football League and on the day were a brilliant side and a total credit to Dino Maamria and his coaching staff. At the start of the second half a combined belief in the players and the vociferous support from the stands genuinely made us believe we could pull off another upset. It wasn’t to be.
For us, it’s now back to league action and of course we still have the FA Trophy to look forward to against Torquay. Our next home fixture in the League is against Ebbsfleet and of course, we have the games against Bath City coming up as well and with the level of support we received yesterday, nothing would make us happier than seeing you pack the terraces for these games especially the derby games as it always makes those games a little bit more special.
Once again, thank you to each and every one of you for coming all that way against Burton, I am sorry we didn’t get the result we all wanted, but if you keep coming along and keep supporting us the way you have, I have no doubt there will be more big days to celebrate along the way.
Hoping to see you all again at Hardenhuish Park against Ebbsfleet on the 10th of December.
