Ben Hughes joins Swansea City
We are pleased to announce that Ben Hughes will join Swansea City for an undisclosed fee.
The 17 year old has signed a 2 year deal with the club which will see him join up at the start of pre-season with the Championship club.
Ben is a product of the clubs Academy, having been recruited from grassroots football in the summer of 2020.
Having impressed on his U23 debut, Ben joined up with the clubs pre-season programme, featuring against Fairford, Buckland and Torquay United. He then became a regular for the clubs U23 as well as featuring on the bench in the National League.
Having become an important part of the under 18s history making FA Cup run, with impressive displays against Reading City and Eastleigh, Ben was then called up to the Welsh U19 national team Futsal camp in February. An impressive display during the 3 day camp then led to Ben making history by becoming the first player from grassroots Football to be called up to the full U18 Wales national team squad. Seven days later Ben made his U18 debut for his country, coming on in the last 10 minutes against England.
Ben trialled with Swansea City back in April and it only took three sessions for the club to offer him a contract.
Everyone at Chippenham Town would like to wish Ben and his family all the best with his future. We’d also like to place on record our thanks to Swansea City for their professionalism and communication throughout the whole process.
