Club Statement

Published: at 4:05pm

It is regretted that for a second time this season, CTFC has seen the interruption of one of its National League South fixtures caused by unacceptable supporter behaviour, the pause in this game occasioned by a racist comment shouted from the terrace and heard by surrounding supporters, players and the match referee. We are pleased to say the person responsible was quickly identified and escorted from the ground. However, because of the incident albeit it involved a Farnborough supporter, this Club will almost certainly face another FA charge.

In this regard, we note that Farnborough FC have published a short statement on their club website stating they do not condone unacceptable supporter behaviour and are investigating the incident Regular visitors to the Thornbury Surfacing Stadium will know that every home game is preceded with a warning that those who engage in unacceptable behaviour, be that physical or verbal, will be ejected from the ground and, where the Club so decides, will be subject to lengthy stadium bans. We hope that where evidence indicates a visiting fan is responsible and can be identified, the parent club will take such punitive action as they consider appropriate against that individual(s) and CTFC will work with them in this regard, if asked.

For the avoidance of doubt, anyone who thinks they can visit Chippenham Town FC and act in a manner that is in any way unacceptable or unwelcome or is likely to put at risk or endanger anyone else visiting the Club, should think again. The Club will take immediate action against anyone acting in such a manner. Be in no doubt that if you are one of a minority of fans who want to come to Thornbury Surfacing Stadium intent on causing trouble or if evidence suggests you can’t or don’t want to behave in a civilised manner, you will not be admitted to the ground. If your intention is to cause trouble you should think very carefully about the potential impact of your actions on the reputation of the Club and its supporters in general and you should be under no illusion that if the Club considers the offence(s) warrant, it will have no hesitation in referring the matter for police consideration.
