CTFC’s Academy Copa Catalunya 2025 Day One Recap

It was a thrilling opening day at the Copa Catalunya, with both Chippenham Town squads kicking off their campaigns.
Chippenham Town 1 set the tone early with a dominant 3-0 win over DJK Fasengarten following a high-tempo first half and continued control after the break. Ed Oatley opened his account for the competition, putting the score at 1-0 going into the break before George Cook and Theo Corbin sealed the victory in the second 20-minute half.
Later in the day, Chippenham Town 1 returned to action against VFR Merzhausen, overcoming a half-time deficit of 1-0 to win 3-1 with second-half strikes from Oatley, Murehwa, and Taylor — capping a perfect start to the tournament and placing them top of Group D after day one with six points.
Chippenham Town 2 faced a narrow 1-0 defeat to PSG 05 Pforzheim in their opener, in a tightly contested, physical match decided by an early goal in the 13th minute. Despite battling hard, they couldn’t find the equaliser but remain in contention with two key fixtures ahead on day two.
