East Mallorca Cup Day Six

Published: at 11:00am

Final Analysis & Tournament Review

The final day of the tour brought no fixtures for either squad, but football was still very much the heartbeat of the morning. Thousands descended on the Cala Millor Sports Complex for the showpiece finals of the U11, U13 and U15 tournaments. Atlético Madrid claimed the first two titles, overcoming RCD Mallorca and Barcelona, before surprise package PPJ Helsinki stunned Sporting Lisbon to lift the U15 crown.

As the sun beat down on a scorching Cala Millor pitch, every team from the festival gathered for East Mallorca’s closing ceremony, where awards, medals and plenty of proud moments rounded off the competition.

After lunch, football boots were swapped for flip‑flops as players, staff and parents headed to the beach for the traditional Parents/Coaches vs Players Beach Rounders showdown. “Flexible rules” and a touch of competitive chaos were, as always, the standout features.

Following some well-earned free time, the Chippenham contingent regrouped outdoors for the tour awards and thank-yous, an evening that proved more emotional than many expected.

The 2026 East Mallorca Cup marked a milestone moment for Chippenham Town Academy, as our U10/11 squads embarked on their first overseas tour, an unforgettable week of football, learning, bonding, and growth on the beautiful island of Mallorca.

Manager’s Player: Tyler

For many of our players, this was their first experience of international football and what an introduction it was. The standard of competition was exceptionally high, pushing our U10s and U11s to adapt, grow, and ultimately raise their level.

They embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, courage, and, most importantly, huge smiles.

The opportunity to face European academies, including giants such as Sporting Lisbon and Juventus was something few players ever experience. These matches will live long in the memory and have undoubtedly inspired our young players to dream even bigger.

Both squads progressed deep into their respective competitions, with the Whites reaching the Gold Quarter-Finals and the Blues advancing to the Silver Semi-Finals – a tremendous achievement for our first overseas tour.

From a staff perspective, the tour was a joy from start to finish. The week was filled with hard work, laughter, shared experiences, and a collective commitment to ensuring the players had the best possible time.

New coaching ideas, philosophies, and standards were observed and absorbed, insights that will help shape and strengthen the academy moving forward.

The tour wasn’t just a footballing experience; it was also a professional development opportunity for everyone involved.

Every player, coach, and staff member returns home stronger, wiser, and full of memories that will last a lifetime. The bonds formed between the squads, the challenges overcome, and the pride shown in representing Chippenham Town Academy made this tour a resounding success.

This is only the beginning. The bar has been raised, and the appetite for future tours is stronger than ever.
