Joe Andrews commits to CTFC
The midfielder signs new deal until 2027
Chippenham Town Football Club are delighted to announce that Joe Andrews has signed an extension to his long-term deal, running until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Joe joined us in the summer from Southampton, his first experience of first-team football, and he has featured in 24 National League South matches so far this term. Andrews turns 19 later this month and becomes the first 18-year-old to make more than 15 league appearances for the Bluebirds in 5 years. His efforts would be rewarded with the Man of the Match award in our home game against Dorking in December.
Academy Manager Joe Sharples had this to say following Joe signing a new deal saying:
“The progress Joe [Andrews] has made since joining is testament to his consistent work ethic and desire to improve – he fully deserves a new deal, when we signed him, we always felt he could progress to the levels he is now, although we felt it would take some more time the U19s, B team or even a loan – but we didn’t necessarily envisage the speed of his development, adaptation to National League football and the impact to the team that he’s had since joining.”
Following signing the extension, Andrews said:
“Been an enjoyable first half to the season, hopefully we can build some momentum now and finish the season as high as possible, the management team have put trust in me to play so many games, thanks to them for the support and confidence they’ve put in me, up the Bluebirds.”
On the retention of Andrews, Joe Sharples said:
“What’s pleasing for us is that he had a few different options in the summer, both at our level and in the EPPP system and he felt this was the best place for him to develop, that’s a great win for us as a club and even better now he’s signed a new deal, fans will be delighted that he’s committed his future at this level with the club.”
Congratulations Joe!
