Luke Haines returns to Chippenham Town

Published: at 2:00pm

Luke previously played for The Bluebirds in the 2019/20 season.

Returning to the Bluebirds is former fan favourite, Luke Haines.

Luke has put pen to paper with Chippenham for the 2023/24 season and this is one that is going to make a lot of people around the TS Stadium very happy. Chippenham were first introduced to Luke Haines in 2019 when the then Swindon youngster came in on loan to the Bluebirds and instantly found himself a fan favourite with his cheeky grin, his dedication to the team and his willingness to win every battle in front of him. He has an eye for goal as well, finding the net on 3 occasions for the Bluebirds against Dulwich, Maidstone and who could ever forget his rocket at Arbour Park where Chippenham dispatched Slough on the way to the 1st Round of the FA Cup.

Upon his departure from Swindon, Haines joined Hereford who were rising through the leagues again with a huge stadium and a massive fan base, Luke once again made himself a huge favourite with the Bulls and was an ever present for all the big events at Hereford in the last couple of seasons with a trip to Wembley in the FA Trophy final, a televised 1st Round game against Portsmouth in the FA Cup and two mid-table finishes in the National League North.

Haines made it very clear his intention to come back after his time at Hereford came to an end and the worst kept secret in Wiltshire was revealed when Luke signed for the club that he has always spoken so highly of in his time away and according to the player “Felt like his home”.

We caught up with Luke earlier to ask his thoughts on re-signing for the Bluebirds.

As you well know, I have got unfinished business here. We want to play under the gaffer (Horgan), he has a clear style of play that suits a player like me and he has an idea in his head of what he wants to do and where he wants to go, and I am absolutely delighted to be a part of his plans and cannot wait to get going.

I am here because I love this place, the club, the people, the fans and the lads, I am looking forward to being a part of achieving this club’s goals.

Welcome back home Luke, we will look forward to seeing you back in blue this season!
