MATCH PREVIEW: Aveley vs Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 12th October 2024
Harry Minton previews our trip to Essex.
The Bluebirds are back on the road this weekend as they travel to the Parkside Stadium to face Aveley FC.
This is an important fixture for both sides with Aveley currently in the relegation zone and winless in three games and our boys just outside the relegation zone but winless in four games in the league. The two sides only met for the first time last season following Aveley’s back to back promotions from the Isthmian League North Division to the National League South.
The first meeting was on the opening day at Hardenhuish Park and it was a 1-0 win to the Bluebirds thanks to Tyreke Johnson’s stunning cross hit shot in the 25th minute was enough for all three points.
It was a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture with Johnson once again finding himself on the scoresheet along with Caine Bradbury for Chippenham.
Aveley’s top scorer last season Siju Odelusi and Charlee Hughes were on target for the home side that day. Aveley would finish in the playoffs, losing to Maidstone in the quarter-final.
Aveley have conceded the third most goals in the league so far and are also yet to keep a clean sheet.
Hopefully our boys in blue can get a much needed three points against a team who are also struggling for consistency at the moment.
Come on you Bluebirds!!
