MATCH PREVIEW: Chippenham Town vs Chesham United | National League South | Tuesday 11th February 2025
Back at the TSS on Tuesday night as the Bluebirds welcome Chesham United to the West Country in the National League South.
Gary Horgan’s boys are looking to get back on track after falling to defeat at the Focus Community Arena at the weekend, losing 4-2 to Hemel Hempstead. Despite some bright sparks with Hamzad Kargbo scoring an unbelievable effort from over twenty yards out that flew into the back of the net off the crossbar, and Matt McClure finding himself on the scoresheet for the first time since November, it was also an away day to forget for the Bluebirds with Luke Spokes receiving a straight red card for a professional foul on the Hemel forward Oli Lynch.
Looking to turn it around against a Chesham side who haven’t seen a win on the road in the league since October when they beat Enfield Town away 3-2. The Generals were founded in 1917 and are seventeen-time winners of the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup. The last time they tasted success was in 2018, where they defeated MK Dons after a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw.
This season is actually the first time they have been in the National League South, winning the Southern Premier League Division last year, of course a division us Bluebirds have won very recently and we do have some good memories against the Generals from the Southern League days, such as beating them 3-0 on home soil in our promotion season, with Chippenham legend Andy Sandell amongst the goals that night.
The main threat to look out for in the Chesham side is striker Nathan Minhas, the forward has scored ten goals so far for the generals in all competitions, including a brace against the Bluebirds when we lost 2-0 away to Chesham in November in the FA Trophy. Meanwhile, striker Harry Parsons is one of the big threats for our boys in blue, as he is our top scorer so far this season also with ten goals to his name in all competitions.
An interesting encounter awaits the Chippenham faithful under the lights at the TSS against a side who are yet to win away from home since October.
COME ON YOU BLUEBIRDS!!!
