MATCH PREVIEW: Hastings United vs Chippenham Town | FA Trophy Second Round, Saturday 19th November 2022

Published: at 12:55pm

We preview our upcoming FA Trophy Second Round tie away to Hastings United.

The Bluebirds have had great success in the FA Cup this season, but our attention turns to the FA Trophy this weekend, with a trip to Hastings United on the bill.

Chippenham Town won’t be looking for a repeat of the last time they played Hastings United. The Bluebirds suffered a 1-0 home defeat in The Emirates FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round last October, with Kenny Pogue scoring the all important winner which saw Hastings progress into the 4th Qualifying Round where they eventually succumbed to Maidenhead United.

The Bluebirds go into the weekend on the back of a home defeat to promotion candidates Havant & Waterlooville. It wasn’t pleasant viewing for Bluebirds supporters, with the away side scoring three times in the first half hour to dampen any hopes of picking up three points.

Visit our match center below for more detail on the Havant & Waterlooville game.

The Opposition

Hastings United currently sit 9th in the Isthmian League Premier Division and have won in two previous rounds to set up a tie with Chippenham Town.

They beat Metropolitan Police 5-4 on penalties in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the competition before setting up a first round tie at home to Burgess Hill Town where they won 4-2 courtesy of goals from Ben Pope x 2, Chinedu McKenzie and Alex Brefo.

Don’t forget, you can still purchase your Emirates FA Cup tickets for our game away to Burton Albion at the Bluebirds Bar.
