MATCH PREVIEW: Welling United vs Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 2nd November 2024
Harry Minton previews our trip to Welling.
This weekend, our boys are on the road as they travel to Park View Road to face Welling United.
This is a huge game for both sides down near the bottom of the table as the two teams are locked together in 18th and 19th place.
Last Time Out
Park View Road hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the Bluebirds in recent times, the only win for us coming there in 2020 with a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Bradley Ash. Last season when Gary Horgan’s men travelled to London to face the Wings, they earned a good 0-0 draw. Will Henry making a few good saves that day to earn a point for the Wiltshire outfit.
Both Welling and Chippenham will be looking for a massive three points in this game, with the visitors coming off the back of losing their last two matches, most recently a pretty disappointing showing in a 2-0 defeat at home to Hampton and Richmond. Meanwhile, the Wings tasted defeat last time out at the hands of Dorking Wanderers, losing narrowly 2-1 away from home.
Familar Faces
A couple of former Bluebird players in the Welling side, the first being Garrett Kelly who was with us in 2021. Though, he only made one appearance for the Hardenhuish Park outfit before moving to Leatherhead in the following summer. Kelly has since signed for Welling this summer from AFC Totton.
Another former Chippenham player is Zain Walker. The Bristol Rovers academy graduate joined us on loan in November 2021, however he also unfortunately only made one appearance for us as he suffered a muscle injury thirty minutes into his debut as Bluebird. He also joined the Wings this summer, leaving Aldershot Town at the end of this season.
It is set to be a huge game in the bottom half of the table, both teams are looking for the win. For those who can’t make the journey this Saturday, there will be live radio commentary on Mixlr.
Come on you Bluebirds!!!
