MATCH REPORT: Aveley 2-2 Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 20th January 2024

Published: at 12:58pm

The Bluebirds twice came from behind to earn a well-deserved point at Aveley. Tyreke Johnson came off the bench to hit an absolute screamer to level at two all, the winger must wish he could play the Millers every week because his only other goal of the season came against the Essex side in the first league game of the season.

Aveley were the first to show but recent signing, from Maidstone United, Razzaq Coleman De-Graft’s second minute shot was no more than a routine save for Will Henry.

Chippenham’s first sight of goal came just after the quarter hour mark as Luke Spokes’ free kick was only cleared as far as Will King whose shot was blocked and the loose ball was flashed across the area by Matt McClure but Craig Fasanmade was just unable to take advantage.

On seventeen minutes Fasanmade shot straight at keeper Jonathan North, although the striker did well to get an effort off as he was surrounded by home defenders.

Aveley opened the scoring a minute later when Coleman De-Graft pulled the ball back to Siju Odelusi who gave Henry no chance. Midway through the half another Fasanmade effort saw the sting taken out of it by a defender and North scrambled to save.

Before the break Caine Bradbury shot wide whilst a free kick from Eduino Vaz was well-saved by Henry.

FULL TIME: Aveley 1-0 Chippenahm Town

After the interval good work from McClure saw Spokes’ shot blocked by Jalen Jones.

At the other end Arjanit Krasniqi’s corner was cleared to Odelusi who volleyed over. Aaron Amadi-Holloway’s speculative shot was dealt with by North before the Bluebirds equalized on the hour as Bradbury found the top corner with a half-volley.

The lively Coleman De-Graft then saw his low shot deflected behind before he set up Charlie Hughes to put the home side in front on sixty eight minutes.

Four minutes after coming on Johnson arrowed home Chippenham’s second on seventy four minutes. North then had to be alert to get down to a King shot.

On eighty five minutes McClure robbed a defender but his shot went wide.

In the eighty ninth minute and the third minute of stoppage time substitute Ed Williams saw an effort blocked and a second deflected wide.
