The Bluebirds have now failed to win on New Year’s Day since 2015, however they had three good penalty claims in the first half that all went unanswered by referee Craig Scriven, thus over the two A4 derbies this Christmas the Bluebirds had four unanswered claims for a penalty.

The Bluebirds had the first effort on nine minutes as Ed Williams’ shot was saved by Will Buse.

Luke Russe then unsuccessfully claimed a penalty whilst Chippenham had two penalty claims turned down inside a minute.

After Matt McClure’s shot hit a post Alex Bray’s cross appeared to hit Danny Greenslade’s hand whilst moments later at a corner McClure also went down in the area.

On twenty five minutes Jordan Thomas’ effort was blocked for corner.

On twenty eight minutes Freddie Grant’s cross was handled by Joe Raynes but again ignored by the referee.

On thirty five minutes another Chippenham corner saw Dan Ellison pushed to the ground by Jordan Dyer but again the officials saw nothing.

On thirty eight minutes Thomas was again off target with a shot.

Cody Cooke’s effort was superbly blocked by Henry at the expense of a corner.

On sixty three minutes Nat Williams gave the ball away and substitute Ewan Clark’s shot was blocked a goal bound cross cum shot followed but Scott Wilson got in the way and headed over.
