MATCH REPORT: Chelmsford City 2-2 Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 11th November 2023

The Bluebirds twice led in Essex but had to be content with a draw after conceding a stoppage time equalizer.


Chippenham were the first to show as Luke Spokes failed with a first minute chance.

Four minutes later Joshua Oluwayemi made a good save from Matt McClure’s shot on the turn.

Just before the quarter hour mark Henry Ochieng shot over.

On twenty minutes Samir Carruthers’ shot from the edge of the area was tipped around the post by Will Henry.

The Bluebirds took the lead on twenty five minutes when a free kick was turned in by Dan Ellison.

Four minutes later Henry again excelled as he tipped over Carruthers’ free kick.

Carruthers then saw another effort blocked as did Jermaine Francis.

The Clarets levelled three minutes before the break as Luke Jenkins powerfully headed home from a corner.

HALF TIME: Chelmsford City 1-1 Chippenham Town

Two minutes after the break Charlie Ruff’s shot was blocked by Ellison.

On sixty three minutes Luke Haines headed wide from a free kick.

Midway through the half Ruff headed over from Luke Jenkins’ cross.

Chippenham re-gained the lead on seventy four minutes as Ed Williams found Owen Windsor who netted.

On seventy eight minutes Henry saved the Bluebirds as he blocked Finley Barbrook’s effort on the line and Haines cleared.

In the first minute of stoppage time a Chelmsford corner was flicked on but no one could react and Henry gathered.

Chelmsford equalized in the fifth minute of stoppage time as it was turned in by substitute Ody Alfa.
