Published: at 12:18pm

The Bluebirds gained their first home point against Maidstone at the third time of asking. A game of few chances saw both sides settle for a deserved point each.

The opening half saw little goalmouth action and was devoid of any clear cut chances.

Chippenham were the first to show on six minutes as Will Dawes cut back but his shot was blocked.

Two minutes later the Kent side forced the first of seven first half corners which saw Pierre Fonkeu’s shot also being blocked.

On eleven minutes Dawes found Caine Bradbury but he too had his effort blocked by the visiting defence.

Midway through the half the pattern continued as Will King’s shot was also rebuffed.

Maidstone then forced a brace of corners whilst Ben Brookes’ free kick just before the half hour was headed over by fellow defender Reiss Greenidge.

On thirty six minutes Luke Spokes’ shot appeared to hit a hand in the area but penalty appeals were dismissed.

In stoppage time Jon Benton headed over from the Stones’ final corner of the half.

HALF TIME: Chippenham Town 0-0 Maidstone United

Kick off for the second half was delayed as a young gull refused to move from the centre circle!

Five minutes after it did Chippenham had their best chance of the match as Luke Haines narrowly headed wide from Spokes’ deep free kick, the latter also saw his shot blocked.

On seventy two minutes a low Stones cross cannoned off Nat Williams and the ball almost ended up in the net.

A quarter of an hour from time a Maidstone corner was won by Greenidge and the ball was played back in where Temi Eweka headed over from close in.

In the final minute Will Henry saved the Bluebirds with a point blank block with his legs from Aaron Blair’s headed effort.

In the sixth minute of stoppage time Bluebird substitute Rex Mannings saw his shot go across the face of goal and beyond the far post.
