MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 0-0 Tonbridge Angels | National League South | Saturday 7th September 2024

Published: at 9:50am

The previous eight meetings between these clubs had seen the Bluebirds record only one point so matching that seemed a good result on paper, but in reality a little more clinical finishing in front of goal would have seen all three.

As early as the second minute Caine Bradbury found Tom Owen-Evans who appeared to be fouled in the area but nothing materialised.

Two minutes later Tonbridge lost Ryan Hanson to injury and a further minute saw Luke Haines’ thunderous shot appear to be stopped by a hand in the box but for the response from the referee see above.

Tonbridge threatened on eleven minutes as Trevan Robinson’s shot was blocked for a fruitless corner.

Two minutes later centre back Haines was again showing his attacking prowess as a long ball found Owen-Evans whose shot beat the advancing Toby Steward but rolled wide of a post.

On twenty two minutes the Bluebirds lost Aaron Amadi-Holloway through injury.

A quarter of an hour later Owen-Evans had to leave the field after a clash of heads. On thirty nine minutes the latter’s replacement, Rex Mannings, crossed to Harry Parsons whose shot was saved at the second attempt.

Before the break Angels’ Jamie Fielding headed over following a free kick whilst Parsons shot wide and in the second of eight stoppage time minutes Haines’ thunderous shot from forty five yards crashed into the cross bar and two minutes later Lewis Colwell’s cross saw Parsons head wide.

After the break Colwell again found Parsons who blazed over whilst a cross from Mannings saw Parsons’ shot go straight at Steward.

Just after the hour Will Henry did well to get down to a shot from Sean Shields.

Tonbridge substitute Jeremy Santos then failed with two efforts inside a minute. On seventy two minutes Bradbury and Mannings both saw shots blocked.

A raking cross then found Mannings whose shot was blocked for a Luke Spokes corner from which Will Dawes headed wide.

In the ninetieth minute Bluebird substitute Joe Andrews fired over from a central position.
