MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 0-0 Truro City | National League South | Monday 1st April 2024

Published: at 6:52pm

Some fans entering the ground to be told the kick off was delayed by thirty minutes could be excused for thinking it was an April Fool, but for the second successive home game the Bluebirds match was delayed because of motorway traffic. On this occasion the wait was half an hour.

Neither side really got to grips with the blustery conditions so a stalemate was no surprise as Chippenham failed to get a shot on target until the final minute whilst Truro came close as they hit the woodwork.

On three minutes Truro’s Tom Harrison shot wide whilst at the other end Luke Spokes’ cross cum shot went wide.

The Bluebirds had a let off on nine minutes when a defensive error allowed James Melhado a free shot at an unguarded goal but Luke Haines made a superb sliding block to stop the ball crossing the line.

Melhado then saw his speculative effort go high and wide.

Just past the half hour Tyreke Johnson’s shot was blocked whilst Josh Hinds went down in the area for the White Tigers but appeals for a penalty were dismissed.

Before the interval Sullivan rolled a shot wide whilst Rocky Neal fired over.

HALF TIME: Chippenham Town 0-0 Truro City

Four minutes after the break another defensive error saw Will Henry save Neal’s shot from inside the area.

Two minutes later Henry made a superb save to again deny Neal. Melhado then saw his headed effort blocked whilst Luther Munakandafa, on loan from Notts County, shot wide.

Midway through the half a Chippenham corner ended with Ed Williams shooting over.

On seventy one minutes Henry was again to the fore as he superbly palmed away a shot from Will Dean.

Truro then forced three corners in a minute with substitute Adam Porter’s shot being blocked from the final one.

The Cornish side went close on seventy six minutes as Hinds’ shot was deflected onto a post.

Six minutes from time Porter’s shot from distance was too high.

In the final minute of normal time substitute Caine Bradbury’s cross from the right went through to Johnson on the left whose low cross into the six yard box found Craig Fasanmade but his close range effort was superbly saved by James Hamon.
