MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 0-3 Bath City | National League South | Thursday 26th December 2024

Published: at 8:48pm

The Bluebirds failure to beat their near rivals at home now stretches back nineteen years. A convincing 3-0 win for the Romans in front of their new manager Darren Way and a crowd of 1716 plus a debut goal for former Chippenham player Brad Ash saw the three points ease any relegation worries Bath may have had.

As it was the Bluebirds had the first chance on four minutes with Harry Parsons shooting wide.

Four minutes later Tyreke Johnson found Alex Bray who similarly failed to find the target.

Parsons then threatened in the area but the ball was eventually hacked away for a corner.

Bath’s first chance came on eighteen minutes as Scott Wilson’s cross deflected off a home defender forcing Will Henry into a diving save.

Henry then did superbly to tip a headed effort following a free kick over the bar.

The Romans took the lead just after the midway point when Wilson converted a penalty awarded after a foul at a corner.

Jordan Alves’ curling shot saw Henry again get down well to save.

At the other end Leone Gravata’s curling shot was too high whilst Tom Mehew’s effort was deflected behind.

HALF TIME: Chippenham Town 0-1 Bath City

Bath doubled their lead on fifty minutes as Henry blocked a shot which saw Ash convert the rebound.

Eight minutes later a suspiciously looking off side Wilson went on to wriggle past two defenders before finding the net.

A great run by Mehew saw the ball end up at Parsons’ feet but he was unable to convert the chance.

Luke Spokes then saw a shot go wide whilst Alves shot straight at Henry.

Three minutes from time substitute Matt McClure headed wide as it proved not to be the Bluebirds day.
