MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 1-1 Weymouth | National League South | Saturday 16th December 2023
The Bluebirds failed to make the most of their opening half hour chances and had to be content with a point after Weymouth equalized after the break.
The Terras Joel Robinson got the better of Nat Williams and drove forward before having his sixth minute shot blocked.
At the other end Craig Fasanmade also saw his effort repelled by the Terras defence.
The Dorset side’s Dan Roberts then failed with two chances first having a shot blocked before heading over a cross from Teddy Howe.
The Bluebirds took the lead on twenty minutes when Dan Ellison’s crunching but fair tackle left Roberts needing medical attention, the ball shot forward where Ed Williams found Tom Mehew who fired past Gerard Benfield.
On the half hour Freddie Grant’s cross saw Caine Bradbury’s shot blocked.
Will Henry then saved Roberts’ diving header whilst another Howe cross was headed wide by Charlie Rowan.
As Weymouth continued to press Roberts again headed a cross wide.
A defensive mistake presented Roberts with another opportunity but Henry saved well.
HALF TIME: Chippenham Town 1-0 Weymouth
After the break a Weymouth free kick ended with Rollinson’s shot being blocked.
The Terras equalized on fifty two minutes when Harry Parsons, who once featured for the Bluebirds on loan from Swindon Town, but now is on loan at Weymouth from Maidenhead United, ran on to a through ball to shoot past Henry.
The Bluebirds retaliated with a shot from Ed Williams that was saved by Benfield whilst a Luke Spokes corner was dropped by the keeper but cleared to safety.
On the hour mark Brandon Goodship’s shot slammed against the bar.
Eight minutes later Parsons was left one on one with Henry but fired high.
Henry then saved shots from substitutes Tom Bearwish and Keelan O’Connell.
O’Connell and Bearwish then both spurned further opportunities as did a third substitute Ezio Touray, the latter on two occasions.
In stoppage time Spokes shot wide for the Bluebirds.
