MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 1-2 Hampton & Richmond Borough | National League South | Saturday 25th November 2023

Published: at 12:34pm

Chippenham’s poor record against Hampton & Richmond Borough continued as they have now lost six times in eleven meetings with only two victories against their West London opponents.

The Beavers could have taken the lead after just two minutes as Rob Hall intercepted to set Ben Seymour one on one with Will Henry but the Chippenham stopper used his legs to block the effort.

Two minutes later another defensive error allowed Mason Bloomfield to score.

On six minutes Matt McClure’s shot appeared to hit Luis Fernandez’s hand but appeals for a penalty went unanswered.

A further McClure shot was blocked whilst a lovely move involving Caine Bradbury and McClure ended with Tom Mehew firing wide from a good central position.

Midway through the half Freddie Grant fired over before the Bluebirds failed to clear their lines on twenty seven minutes and Jordan Thomas doubled the lead.

The Bluebirds continued to have the majority of possession and before the interval Craig Fasanmade’s shot was blocked and a Bradbury effort was saved by Adam Desbois.

Luke Spokes then cut in and pulled the ball back to McClure whose shot was deflected wide.

The final action of the half saw another good four man move with Mehew’s volley being saved.

After the break Spokes dragged a shot wide whilst seeing another effort also go wide.

Midway through the half the Beavers saw a close range effort poked wide and an effort disallowed for off side.

On seventy seven minutes substitute Aaron Amadi-Holloway, who for the successive match, came off the bench to play up front superbly chested the ball down with his back to goal but his shot on the turn went wide.

Spokes and Mehew then combined to present Amadi-Holloway with an opportunity but Desbois saved his shot.

Ed Williams then saw an effort blocked whilst Grant’s shot curled beyond the far post.

Five minutes from time Desbois superbly saved a Dan Ellison header from a Spokes corner.

Chippenham finally pulled a goal back in the eighty-ninth minute when Ellison powerfully headed home another corner from Spokes.

Chippenham had one more chance in the fourth minute of stoppage time as substitute Eddie Jones’s low cross again saw Amadi-Holloway turn well and his shot with the outside of his boot was saved by Desbois.
