MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 1-3 Horsham | National League South | Saturday 6th November

CTFC are defeated by the Hornets from Sussex, after a performance deserving of more.

The first chance of the match was a Horsham one, Luke Haines lost the ball near edge of our box after 10 minutes played and Horsham put a cross in eventually with the header over the bar.

18 minutes in Chippenham’s first chance came after they played some good football around Horsham’s area with a great ball from Will King out to Ethan Vaughan who crossed out for a goal kick.

Chippenham put on the pressure with 20 mins played with a few quick passes and a snap shot from Fleet however going out for a throw in.

Tom Owen-Evans did well to get the first corner of the game from a deflected shot. He then played the corner played short creating space at the edge of the box which was taken advantage of with a shot however going over the bar from Tom Mehew.

A great chance for Chippenham on the half an hour mark after Koszela put a low driven cross to the edge of the Horsham box where Owen-Evans was lurking took a touch and only narrowly dragged it wide of the post.

Chance out of nothing before half time For Horsham as they had a throw in taken quickly to Horsham 14 who was free just inside the 18 yard box and unleashed a fierce shot narrowly over the bar.

First chance of the half was an in the first minute with the ball falling to Vaughan around 10 yards out hitting a first time volley with Horsham keeper getting down well to meet it and hold possession.

First goal of the game and it went the way of The Hornets with a quickly taken goal kick going over everyone and Will Henry with a miss-kick and Horsham’s Myles-Meekums had an open goal tap in to send them 1-0 up.

A quick fire 2nd for Horsham came in the 55th minute as Horsham played it around inside the Chippenham box eventually slotting it into the bottom corner from Charlie Hester-Cook.

After a lack of chances from both teams since the goals, Mehew picked up the ball in the final third dribbled it past two Horsham defenderss and got a shot away however the ‘keeper got down well to meet it.

Later, a good team goal for Horsham to make it 3-0 on 77 minutes with the move rounded out with a tap in at the back post from Rhys Murphy.

A good chance for Chippenham with around five minutes left to play of the 90 as Colwell made a nice run cutting inside with a pass into Touray who spun the ball out to Parsons who had a good effort saved by Horsham’s keeper.

A came penalty for Chippenham just before full time after the Horsham defender wrestled Ezio Touray to the floor, with Harry Parsons converting the penalty, making 3-1 with 90+5 played.
