MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 1-3 Swindon Town | Wiltshire Premier Shield Quarter Final

Published: at 9:44pm

The Bluebirds bowed out of the Wiltshire Premier Shield to their local neighbours.

Neither of these sides were at full strength as the Robins fielded mainly their Youth side, with previous Bluebird loanee Harrison Minturn in their line-up whilst no players from Chippenham’s starting XI last Saturday featured although they fielded several players with first team experience.

Chippenham were caught napping from the off as Swindon scored in the third and fourth minute.

Morgan Roberts first played Oscar Massey in to score and then a mistake by home keeper James Walker who tried but failed to dribble the ball around Tomi Adeloye allowed the Swindon man to net the second.

The Bluebirds pulled a goal back on twelve minutes when Dan Warre shot across Jack Copland.

Joe Parker then saw an effort blocked whilst Caine Bradbury’s free kick went just wide.

Midway through the half Adeloye was brought down on the edge of the area and the resulting free kick from Morgan Roberts was well-pushed behind by James Walker.

Twariq Yusuf then found Warre whose shot was well-saved by Copland.

Walker then easily saved an effort from Massey whilst George Cowmeadow’s shot was blocked.

Before the break Owen Windsor’s cross just evaded Warre whilst Walker held a shot from Roberts.

After the break Yusuf saw his shot from distance superbly saved whilst shortly afterwards the on-loan Brackley Town midfielder had to be substituted after a tackle.

Just after the hour mark Adeloye was fouled in the area by Zak Mitchell and he converted the resulting penalty himself.

Windsor then forced a superb save out of Copland who pushed his shot onto the bar.

The final action of the game saw Robins’ Oscar Massey fail to get the power behind his shot to beat Walker.
