A miserable night of heavy rain was compounded by a heavy defeat to a very impressive Ebbsfleet United who thoroughly deserved their victory inspired by a Dominic Poleon hat-trick.

The visitors had the slope in their favour in the opening half and constantly pushed the Bluebirds back with early chances falling to Alfie Egan and Lee Martin.

The Kent side deservedly took the lead on twenty three minutes albeit the goal was self inflicted.

Danny Greenslade’s square ball across the area sold Will Richards short and Greg Cundle robbed Richards to go on and slot past Will Henry.

Four minutes later Ebbsfleet doubled their lead as Tobi Adebayo-Rowland set up Poleon to turn the ball home.

Martin then failed with a shot from a tight angle Just after the half hour Lee Martin found Rakish Bingham but his effort was off target.

On thirty eight minutes Luke Russe threaded a superb through ball to Joe Hanks who hit a low shot past Josh Gould to halve the deficit.

Before the interval the lively Poleon shot into the side netting.

After the break, with the slope in their favour, the rain ironically stopped as an early Ross Stearn shot was blocked by a defender before an effort from Poleon was ruled out for off side.

On the hour mark Harvey Bunker‘s effort was blocked before Ebbsfleet hit their third as a superb run down the left saw Poleon cut in and hit an unstoppable shot past Henry.

On sixty four minutes another defensive error saw Bingham move the ball swiftly forward to Poleon who fired home his third.

Chippenham pulled a goal back on sixty nine minutes when a free kick was headed against the bar by Marlon Jackson as Ebbsfleet failed to clear Kieran Parselle fired home.

A quarter of an hour from time a Bunker free kick sailed over before Russe went down in the area but appeals for a penalty were waived aside.

Jackson then headed against the crossbar for the second time.

Ebbsfleet went nap five minutes from time when substitute Jack Paxman held off two defenders to shoot across Henry.
