MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 3-2 Enfield Town | National League South | Saturday 31st August 2024

Published: at 9:05pm

The Bluebirds twice came from behind to claim the three points in the third minute of stoppage time.

The game had more highs than lows as both sides looked to attack with Tom Owen-Evans denied a first minute penalty after being wrestled to the ground.

At the other end Enfield’s Hisham Kasimu thumped an effort against the bar whilst Billy Leonard hit the side netting from a tight angle.

The Towners took the lead on eighteen minutes when a fine run from Ollie Knight saw his low cross met by a sliding Leonard to convert at the far post.

Chippenham equalized just before the half hour when Matt McClure spun in the box and planted a shot into the top corner despite keeper Rhys Forster getting a hand to the ball.

Before the break Will Dawes’ shot lacked the necessary power to beat Forster, whilst Owen-Evans again appeared to be fouled in the area.

Joe Andrews saw his low drive saved whilst Owen-Evans kept the ball in play at the by-line and found Andrews whose low cross saw Dawes’ shot blocked on the line.

HALF TIME: Chippenham Town 1-2 Enfield Town

The second half opened with the Bluebirds pressing their visitors back as Dawes’ low cross was met by McClure whose first time shot flew wide whilst McClure found the industrious Owen-Evans who shot over before a slick four man move ended with Dawes also shooting high.

Before the hour Kasimu saw an effort chalked off for off side whilst at the other end Owen-Evans scuffed a shot before drawing an excellent save from Forster.

Luke Spokes’ free kick went straight to the keeper before Enfield regained the lead on sixty nine minutes when a defensive mistake allowed Kasimu to score his first ever goal for the visitors.

Knight could have extended their lead as he rounded Will Henry but shot into the side netting.

Chippenham drew level on seventy nine minutes as substitute Aaron Amadi-Holloway, who was thrust up front instead of his normal centre back position, found Owen-Evans who fired home an angled shot.

Three minutes later another Spokes free kick went over the bar whilst a scramble in the Enfield box saw Owen-Evans poke wide.

Chippenham recorded their first win on home soil this season in the third minute of stoppage time as Amadi-Holloway controlled a long ball with his chest before crashing it home.
