After three straight losses and some below par home form Chippenham gave their fans some early Christmas cheer with a demolition job on Dorking Wanderers, one of the pre-season favourites.

Injuries saw a youthful team conjure up the Bluebirds most convincing result to date as on loan Swindon Town youngsters Harry Parsons and Ricky Aguiar hit all four goals with the former notching a hat trick – Chippenham’s only other three some in the National South coming at Wealdstone in April 2018 courtesy of Andy Sandell.

Even more impressive was the fact that the three goals came in an eight minute spell kicking up the slope. The win also proved to be the Bluebirds 50th victory in National South.

Dorking made the early running with Josh Taylor’s long throw being flicked on by Jason Prior to Nicky Wheeler whose spectacular overhead kick was blocked on the line.

At the other end Aguiar’s shot was also blocked before Dorking’s Alfie Rutherford skied his effort.

Another long Taylor throw saw Prior’s looping header go over the bar. On eleven minutes Callum Rowe’s twenty five yard shot bounced off keeper Stuart Nelson’s chest for a corner which saw Joe Hanks’ flag kick headed over by Aguiar.

As the chances continued Oluwasegun Lawal’s overhead kick into the box fell to Luke Russe whose shot lacked the power to beat Nelson. Parsons then shot wide following a Bluebird corner, whilst a long ball to the young Swindon striker saw him cut inside his marker before firing over.

The game was turned on its head between the thirtieth and thirty eighth minute when Parsons hit a superb hat trick.

DORKING 41

His first goal came when an Alex Bray throw was cleverly played on by Aguiar to Lawal whose low cross saw nineteen year old Parsons hit a low shot past Nelson.

Three minutes later a through ball to Parsons was chested down and then played back to Aquiar whose forward ball split the Wands defence and Parsons slid home his second.

The youngster’s third started at the back with Cameron Hargreaves finding Bray, who was returning to the side after a lengthy injury, his ball found Lawal and his cross was met by Parsons whose initial right-footed shot was blocked by Nelson but Parsons rammed home the rebound with his left boot.

Between Parson’s second and third goal Wheeler’s driving run ended with him shooting high. Before the interval Dorking’s Niall McManus flicked his shot wide whilst Prior shot over.

The Wands reduced the arrears on forty five minutes when Matt Briggs brushed past Rowe and Kieran Parselle to fire home.

The second half opened with two Agiar free kicks the first saw the visiting keeper stretch to save and the second was well-tipped over the bar. On fifty two minutes Parsons again netted but the flag had been raised for off side a minute later Agiar found Parsons who lofted his shot over the bar.

At the other end a Dorking corner ended with Rutherford’s shot being blocked. Taylor’s shot was then blocked by Danny Greenslade whilst another Rutherford effort was deflected behind.

On seventy one minutes a good run by Lawal ended with Cameron Hargreaves shooting high.

Will Henry blocked substitute Darren Oldaker’s effort with his legs before saving a Rutherford header.

A Dorking cross on eighty two minutes was met by Taylor but his header was saved by Henry.

A free kick from Agiar then went all the way through to Nelson. Chippenham made sure of the points in the final minute of normal time when Luke Russe won possession and fed Aguiar who burst between two defenders before hitting a low shot between the keeper and near post.
