MATCH REPORT: Concord Rangers 3-1 Chippenham Town | National League South | Sat 29th Oct 2022
The Bluebirds fell to their third successive defeat leaving them hovering just one point above the relegation area. The match hinged on the home side’s second goal which Bluebird players claimed saw a handball in the build-up, that came after half an hour of Chippenham pressure and was very undeserved.
Concord were first to show as a long ball forward found Lewis Manor who shot wide.
At the other end Callum Gunner was similarly off target with his shot.
On eighteen minutes Harvey Beckett’s cross found Nana Kyei who headed straight at Will Henry.
A minute later Caine Bradbury’s corner saw Luke Russe’s shot blocked.
The Beachboys took the lead when Tosan Popo’s long throw on the half hour saw Beckett head home.
Before the break Henry made a double save as he blocked Kyei’s header and the follow-up hooked shot from Ben Williamson.
Whilst at the other end Harry Parson’s shot on the turn went straight at keeper Melvin Minter.
HALF TIME: Concord Rangers 1-0 Chippenham Town
Two minutes into the second half a Blackman free kick was headed wide by Manor.
Bradbury then shot straight at Minter whilst Kyei’s effort was deflected wide.
The Bluebirds equalised just before the hour mark after good play from Leighton Tuodolo and Bradbury saw Harvey Greenslade cross to the far post for Alex Bray to fire home.
Henry then did well to grab the ball off the inrushing Kyei.
A quarter of an hour from time Bradbury found Greenslade who drew a superb save from Minter.
Concord took the lead against the run of play on eighty three minutes as substitute Salem Akanbi’s netted with the Bluebirds appealing for a handball.
As the Bluebirds pressed for an equaliser the first minute of stoppage time saw Minter again produce a brilliant save to deny Parsons.
With men committed forward the Bluebirds let in a third in the ninety fifth minute as Blackman ended all thoughts of a fight back.
