MATCH REPORT: Cribbs FC 2-2 Chippenham Town | Pre-Season Friendly | Friday 14th July 2023

The Bluebirds fielded a very inexperienced side consisting mainly of academy players plus several trialists and first team members Luke Spokes, Pablo Martinez, Sam Heal and Caine Bradbury.

Chippenham twice took the lead through Trialist A but were pegged back each time the second equalizer coming late in the game.

The first chance of note fell to Cribbs on eight minutes when a speculative shot from Aaron Ward-Baptiste went wide.

A minute later Chippenham responded as Otis Lewis’ shot was touched behind by keeper Aaron Greatbanks for a fruitless corner.

Chippenham took the lead on the quarter of an hour when Joel Manning threw the ball out to Marcel Lewis whose strong run ended with him crossing to Trialist A to head home.

On nineteen minutes a shot from distance by Martinez was held by the keeper.

Midway through the half Ward-Baptiste’s shot was blocked by Jac Poffley.

On twenty eight minutes Spokes’ dipping free kick was tipped over the bar by Greatbanks. 

Cribbs equalized on thirty three minutes with a twenty five yard effort from Ward-Baptiste.

Three minutes later Cribbs’ M. Spiller hit a shot very wide.

HALF TIME: Cribbs FC 1-1 Chippenham Town

Eight minutes after the break a Cribbs substitute blazed over.

Chippenham re-gained the lead three minutes later after Bradbury played the ball in and Otis Lewis scored.

Chippenham’s Trialist keeper then made a good save on sixty five minutes.

Substitute Devon Cross found Pele Kouissoue who shot wide.

At the other end Cribbs headed over.

On seventy seven minutes Kouissoue went one on one but shot straight at the keeper.

At the other end a Cribbs free kick went over. Four minutes from time Otis Lewis’ shot was saved.

Three minutes from time Cribbs levelled as a cross was converted by substitute Josh Bennett who slid in to score.

A minute later Otis Lewis’ shot was saved.
