MATCH REPORT: Dover Athletic 1-1 Chippenham Town | National League South | Sat 12th November 2022

Published: at 3:48pm

The Bluebirds ended a run of four league defeats as they earned a credible draw against ten man Dover Athletic but after taking a first half lead they were unable to hang on and remain in the relegation area.

The Kent side were the first to show as Alfie Pavey failed with a fourth minute shot from outside the area.

The seventh minute saw a burst of applause in support of injured Bath City player Alex Fletcher.

On eleven minutes Luke Baptiste drove a chance wide whilst six minutes later Pavey’s weak shot was also off target.

Just before the half hour Dover’s Lee Martin collected two bookings inside a minute and was red-carded.

On the half hour Joe Hanks’ free kick went over the bar.

An Alfie Paxman cross was then headed by Pavey but Will Henry saved.

Chippenham opened the scoring on thirty six minutes as Alfie Santos’ corner saw keeper Stuart Nelson parry Hanks’ header and Will Tizzard finished; scoring his first goal in a Bluebird shirt.

Before the break Chike Kandi shot straight at Henry.

HALF TIME: Dover Athletic 0-1 Chippenham Town

The second half started with two Bluebird corners with Hanks’ shot from the first one being saved.

Pavey and Luke Wanadio then combined well with the former’s shot blocked by Henry.

Just before the hour Harry Parsons’ effort was blocked by Baptiste.

Midway through the half a long range Parsons effort was saved.

Dover then won successive corners on the seventy fourth minute and the first one saw a superb save by Henry from Jake Goodman’s header and the quickly taken second one caught the Bluebirds off-guard and the ball was flicked onto Pavey to net the equalizer.

Ten minutes from time Baptiste shot straight at Henry and eight minutes later Wanadio’s shot was saved at the expense of a corner.

From Paxman’s flag-kick Wanadio shot wide. In the second minute of stoppage time a long clearance from Henry gave substitute Joe Parker a chance to win the game but he scuffed his shot straight to Nelson.
