MATCH REPORT: Farnborough 0-1 Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 18th March 2023

The Bluebirds extended their unbeaten run to ten matches as they collected a deserved three points at Farnborough. A penalty late in the first half from Matt McClure accompanied by some resolute defending saw Chippenham move up to sixteenth place.


The pre-match build-up was not without incident as Farnborough’s Swindon Town loanee Harry Parsons, who earlier in the season was at Chippenham, tweaked a hamstring and had to withdraw.

The first chance fell to Farnborough’s Selim Saied on four minutes but his shot was wide.

A minute later Joe Parker found Craig Fasanmade who headed over.

The Bluebirds lost Fasanmade on ten minutes with also to a hamstring injury, he was replaced by Will King.

Kevin Lokko then did well to take the ball off the advancing Alex Bray.

On sixteen minutes Ricky Holmes’ twenty yard shot went straight at Will Henry.

Jack Turner saved well from Bray on twenty one minutes at the expense of a corner.

On thirty three minutes Mason Bloomfield’s shot deflected to Henry.

A long throw from Ollie Robinson ended with Jordan Norville-Williams shooting over.

On forty five minutes Bray was fouled by Norville-Williams in the area and McClure scored from the resultant penalty.

HALF TIME: Farnborough 0-1 Chippenham Town

A Farnborough free kick on fifty two minutes was headed straight to Henry by Saied.

On sixty two minutes Robinson’s shot was tipped onto the bar by Henry and out for Farnborough’s fourth corner of the half.

On eighty one minutes Bray crossed to Joe Parker but the ball was slightly behind him and from six yards out he shot wide.

Two minutes later substitute Freddie Grant’s shot hit a defender.

On eighty eight minutes Farnborough substitute Zaid Al-Hussani’s  shot was just over the bar.
