
MATCH REPORT: Farnborough 3-1 Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 30th November 2024
The Bluebirds suffered their third defeat of the week as Farnborough came from behind to take the points in a game where the hosts were awarded two penalties; the first of which was saved by Will Henry before Aaron Kuhl converted a late spot kick.
The home side had the first chance on ten minutes as Joe Haigh’s cross cum shot was saved by Henry.
Four minutes later Haigh’s shot deflected off Luke Spokes for a fruitless corner.
On eighteen minutes Millar Matthew-Lewis’s shot was saved by Henry at the second attempt.
Midway through the half Matt McClure had the Bluebirds first chance but his shot went wide.
Before the half hour Ricky Holmes’ shot was off target whilst on thirty two minutes Jack Turner made a superb save to deny McClure.
Holmes then shot wide whilst Taylor Clark’s effort was blocked.
Before the break a Chippenham corner saw Nat Williams’ header superbly turned over by Turner, whilst a further flag-kick saw Williams head straight at Turner.
At the other end Holmes’ free kick hit a post and rebounded onto Henry.
HALF TIME: Farnborough 0-0 Chippenham Town
Chippenham took the lead on forty seven minutes as Gravata made a quick break and crossed for Caine Bradbury to shoot into the top corner.
Haigh equalized five minutes later with a glancing header from a cross from half-time substitue Matty MacArthur.
On fifty five minutes Leone Gravata’s shot was blocked before Gravata brought down Jack Bateson in the area but Henry saved Holmes’ penalty.
Henry then saved an effort from Holmes at the expense of a corner.
Just after the hour Kuhl dragged a shot wide before Edon Pruti’s free kick cleared the bar.
A rare Bluebird chance saw Alex Bray’s shot deflected behind before Farnborough took the lead on seventy three minutes as Holmes found MacArthur who showed deft skill in rounding Henry before planting the ball into the empty net.
The lively Holmes then drew a diving save from Henry before Spokes brought Haigh down in the eighty ninth minute and Kuhl converted the resultant penalty.
