MATCH REPORT: Farnborough 3-1 Chippenham Town | National League South | Thursday 11th April 2024
Two games in two days proved too much for the Bluebirds as they went down in Hampshire. Both sides had agreed to play next week but the National League ordered them to play this week which was obviously a disadvantage to the Bluebirds.
The opening six minutes saw both sides awarded a fruitless corner. Jordan Norvillie-Williams then saw his free kick blocked.
On ten minutes Guy Hollis headed Olly Pendlebury’s corner wide.
Luke Spokes’ cross was then headed behind for a corner, but his flag-kick was headed clear.
On seventeen minutes Tom Owen-Evans burst through but fired over the bar.
At the other end Joe Haigh’s thunderous low shot went just past the post.
Minutes later another Farnborough shot from distance was wide.
A Chippenham free kick routine ended with Tyreke Johnson unable to find the target.
McClure rounded Jack Turner on twenty seven minutes but from a tight angle he shot into the side netting.
Farnborough took the lead on thirty one minutes when Luke Spokes’ attempt to pass back to Will Henry saw Hisham Kasimu beat Henry to the ball to score.
Aaron Amadi-Holloway’s effort was then rebuffed by the home defence.
Taylor Clark then thudded a long range shot against a post. Chippenham levelled three minutes before the break as Turner parried McClure’s shot and Tom Mehew netted the rebound.
In stoppage time Amadi-Holloway fouled Miller Matthew-Lewis in the box and Olly Haigh converted the resultant penalty.
In the fifth minute of stoppage time a Chippenham corner saw Turner make two successive saves, Chippenham then found the net but it was disallowed.
