MATCH REPORT: Hampton & Richmond Borough 2-1 Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 9th March 2024

Not for the first time this season the Bluebirds went down to a stoppage time goal as Hampton took the three points with a goal in the final minute of time added on.


Hampton had a chance in the first minute but their effort went wide.

A minute later a Jake Gray corner saw Ben Seymour’s effort saved by Will Henry.

The Bluebirds then forced two corners with Aaron Amadi-Holloway creating problems before on nine minutes Tyreke Johnson’s cross was headed back by Craig Fasanmade for Tom Owen-Evans to score.

Two minutes later a poor clearance from Henry almost gifted Gray a goal but Amadi-Holloway came to the Bluebirds rescue.

Just after the quarter hour mark Will King’s cross was headed wide by Fasanmade.

On twenty three minutes a fierce shot from Owen-Evans was blocked by Isaac Pitblado.

On the half hour Ruaridh Donaldson’s effort went wide, a minute later Owen-Evans forced Adam Desbois into a good save.

On thirty three minutes Luke Haines’ twenty five yard shot was blocked and as the Bluebirds continued to press Fasanmade’s shot was saved.

The Beavers then forced two successive corners from the first Pitblado’s shot was deflected behind.

Two minutes before the break a shot from Pitblado went over the bar.

In stoppage time a Bluebird corner saw Dan Ellison unable to get his headed effort on target and the ball fell to Fasanmade whose shot was blocked.

Two minutes after the break Seymour’s shot from outside of the area went wide.

A minute later Gray’s free kick on the edge of the area saw a fine save by Henry.

Hampton equalized on fifty four minutes as Bloomfield headed home a cross from Luis Fernandez.

Three minutes later Luke Spokes’ long range effort was saved by Desbois.

On seventy minutes Tyreke Johnson found substitute Caine Bradbury whose shot was blocked a minute later Johnson was presented with a good opportunity inside the six yard box but his shot lacked the power to beat Desbois.

The ball was moved to the other end and Amadi-Holloway lost possession to Gray whose shot was saved by Henry but the ball came back to Bloomfield whose headed effort went over.

Ten minutes from time Sam Deadfield’s free kick went over the bar. Johnson’s cross cum shot then just went over the Hampton bar.

On eighty one minutes substitute Alec Gibson-Hammond shot wide, whilst a minute from normal time Bluebird substitute Ed Williams saw his shot blocked.

The Beavers hit the winning goal in the ninety sixth minute as Dominic Revan’s cross saw Henry block Bloomfield’s shot but Gibson-Hammond was on hand to convert.
