MATCH REPORT: Hendon 2-2 Chippenham Town | Emirates FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round, Sat 15th Oct 2022

Published: at 9:00am

A classic cup tie ended with Bluebirds’ keeper Will Henry saving a stoppage time penalty to ensure the game ended all square.

Chippenham controlled the first half taking a two goal lead inside the opening quarter of an hour before the roles were reversed after the break as Hendon‘s Liam Brooks scored two quick fire goals including a penalty before Henry denied Brooks his hat trick.

Chippenham scored with their first real chance of the game on twelve minutes as Craig Fasanade headed home his first goal in a Bluebird shirt following Jordan Young’s near post cross.

Two minutes later a shot from Brooks was blocked.

On the quarter hour mark Chippenham doubled their lead through a Young free kick.

On twenty five minutes Hanks headed on a Young corner and Harvey Greenslade was just unable to reach the ball.

Two minutes later Greenslade picked up a cross field ball and was felled in the area but no penalty ensued.

A forty yard free kick from Joe Hanks was then tipped over the bar by Marcin Brzozowski.

Just after the half hour Spencer Hamilton sliced his shot wide, whilst at the other end Henry held an effort from Brooks.

Before the break Fasanade found Alfie Santos whose effort was blocked.

In stoppage time Young went through on goal but in the effort of shooting he went down under a challenge from Gio Palmer but again no penalty resulted.

HALF TIME: Chippenham Town 2-0 Hendon

Three minutes after the break Luke Russe was adjudged to have fouled Frank Kiera in the box and Brooks converted the spot kick.

On fifty six minutes Robdell Gordon’s free kick hit the bar and the rebound was volleyed home by Brooks.

Santos then saw two efforts inside a minute saved by the Greens’ keeper, whilst Ed Jones and substitute Bobson Bawling both failed to hit their respective targets with shots.

Santos’s cross cum shot was then saved at the near post, whilst a shot from Young went just wide.

On seventy three minutes Young’s free kick hit a post and a minute later Santos’s shot from the edge of the area hit the bar.

Young’s free kick was then comfortably saved whilst his corner was headed over by Will Tizzard.

That left the drama of a Hendon penalty in the second minute of stoppage time which saw Will Richards red-carded and Henry’s heroics to deny Brooks.

The last action of the match saw substitute Joe Parker head straight at Brzozowski.
