MATCH REPORT: Nailsea & Tickenham 1-6 Chippenham Town | Emirates FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round | Saturday 14th September 2024

Published: at 7:00pm

The Bluebirds are in the Emirates FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round after a comprehensive victory.

After losing to lower league Hungerford Town at this stage last season, the Bluebirds made no mistake in ruthlessly despatching Nailsea and Tickenham who play in the Jewson Western League.

A confidence boosting hat trick for Harry Parsons – his first goals of the season, along with a goal each for Caine Bradbury, Tom Mehew and Tyreke Johnson also their first goals of the season eased the Bluebirds to a comfortable win in Somerset.

Following a cagey opening Chippenham began to impose themselves on the game and the Swags had no answer to their visitors slick passing game.

On nine minutes Mehew had the Bluebirds first effort of the afternoon but it was off target. Chippenham took the lead on ten minutes as Bradbury converted a deep cross from Will Dawes.

On the quarter hour mark Dawes cut the ball back to Parsons who fired over as the Bluebirds continued to dominate.

Three minutes later Parsons was presented with another chance inside the area but he again failed to find the net.

Just after the midway point a cross from Rex Mannings found the lively Parsons whose shot was saved by keeper Jakob Glover.

Just before the half hour mark Tom Mehew deftly flicked the ball over two defenders and hammered the ball into the corner of the net to double the lead.

As the one way traffic continued Lewis Colwel’s raking cross found Mannings whose shot skimmed the bar.

Parsons finally found the net on thirty three minutes as he beat several defenders before rounding Glover; like Bradbury and Mehew before him it was his first goal of the season.

Six minutes before the break Bradbury and Parsons combined for the latter to make no mistake to give the Bluebirds a 4-0 half-time lead.

HALF TIME: Nailsea & Tickenham 0-4 Chippenham Town

Either side of the break Nailsea and Tickenham fashioned their first attempts on goal but a breakaway ended with the final shot going over Will Henry’s bar and the second was safely held by the Bluebirds’ keeper.

The Bluebirds retaliated with half time substitute Johnson finding Bradbury who fired over the bar.

A raft of Chippenham corners ended with skipper Luke Haines seeing his headed effort blocked on the line, whilst just after the hour mark Chippenham substitute Matt McClure saw his effort ruled out for offside.

On seventy minutes Parsons turned provider as his low cross allowed Johnson to hit the ball into an empty net.

A minute later the plucky home side scored a consolation goal through Oscar Collins. Five minutes from time Chippenham wrapped up the scoring as Parsons netted a deserved hat-trick as he again waltzed through the defence before planting the ball in the net.
