MATCH REPORT: Slough Town 3-2 Chippenham Town | National League South | Tuesday 2nd September

Published: at 9:00am

Jack Neville summaries our trip to Berkshire.

An entertaining, end to end first half begun with Slough smashing the crossbar four minutes into the game before Jordan Greenidge poked home to put the Rebels ahead with only six minutes played.

Soon after Slough took the lead, a header was knocked down into Jac Poffley’s path and he tucked it past the keeper to equalise. The Bluebirds started to pile the pressure on with Henry Sady taking fire from the edge of the box but the keeper collected his shot safely. Will Henry then had to deal with a shot towards his near post from Myers who proved a threat during the game but it was dealt with nicely.

Tom Owen-Evans then received a lovely through ball from Tom Mehew which led to him being 1 on 1 with the Slough goalkeeper which he finished emphatically into the top left hand corner to put us ahead with 36 minutes played.

Will Henry was then challenged again with a powerful strike which he parried away from danger.

Olaf Koszela went down clutching his knee right before the halfway mark which resulted in an early substitution for the Bluebirds with Sol Wanjau-Smith taking his place.

During the 6 added minutes of the first half, Slough managed to equalise with a long punt sent forwards from their goalkeeper taken down nicely from Bartlett-Antwi which he then slotted into the bottom corner. A busy first half resulted in both teams going into the break all square.

HALF-TIME: SLOUGH TOWN 2-2 CHIPPENHAM TOWN

Tom Harrison, after being signed on deadline day was then introduced for goalscorer Poffley in the 53rd minute. A big welcome back to Tom!

Ezio Touray had multiple big chances during the second half with a long ball over the top taken down really well by the forward before his shot was comfortably saved by the Slough number 1.

Soon after, another chance fell Ezio’s way as Owen-Evans played a brilliant through ball into him before his shot was collected by the goalkeeper again.

With 15 minutes to go Slough took the lead again with a smart finish from Makowski into the far corner.

Then nearing the end of the game, Sady won a free kick on the right hand side of the box which Caine Bradbury then put an inviting cross in for Luke Haines to narrowly head over the bar.

Quevin Castro was brought on late into stoppage time and he had a free kick from 30 yards which troubled the Slough goalkeeper into making an incredible save to keep them ahead.

Unfortunately for the Bluebirds that was the last kick of the game as Slough took all three points at Arbour Park.
