MATCH REPORT: Taunton Town 1-0 Chippenham Town | Club Friendly Match | Tuesday 22nd July 2025
Bluebirds edged out in Somerset.
Our second pre-season friendly of 2025/26 away from the Thornbury Surfacing Stadium would see Ben Seymour’s strike just before half time seal victory for Taunton.
We started out the stronger side, as within the first five minutes both Olaf Koszela and Freddie Grant would have shots blocked from close range.
On 11 minutes Grant would be given the games only caution, for a late foul. That moment would also end Freddie’s game, as he limped off a couple of minutes later, being replaced by Luke Haines.
On 30 minutes Tom Owen-Evans had our best effort, with a header from close range that was narrowly wide.
The pressure on Taunton’s goal continued, as Ethan Vaughan’s cross from the left smashed the crossbar, with Owen-Evans’ rebound well cleared by Taunton.
Taunton took the lead on 42 minutes when Seymour raced through on goal, he rounded Will Henry and tapped into the empty net.
The second period was devoid of attacking chances until the 77th minute, with a CTFC corner landing at the boot of Harry Messenger, whose shot was well blocked.
The final ten minutes saw all of our attacking intent, with both Owen-Evans, Harry Parsons and Quevin Castro all having shots saved by the goalkeeper.
Our clearest opportunity of the match came on 82 minutes, as Ezio Touray smashed a shot into the post.
