MATCH REPORT: Tonbridge Angels 2-0 Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 3rd February 2024

Chippenham Town’s miserable record at Tonbridge continued as they have still to win on the Angels ground. Chippenham started brightly as Matt McClure’s first minute shot was blocked.

On four minutes Lewis Gard’s shot went straight at Will Henry.

Two minutes later Henry did well to punch Paris Lock’s effort over the bar.

The resulting corner saw the ball headed onto the top of the net by Jamie Fielding.

The host then earned several corners and a Sean Shields free kick was blocked by Henry and the follow-up was blocked by the defence. Tonbridge opened the scoring on twenty three minutes as Henry made a superb save from Shields; tipping the ball on to the crossbar, but Kodi Lyons-Foster was on hand to turn the ball home.

Henry then made another save from Vincent whilst on twenty nine minutes Luke Spokes’ corner was met by Eddie Jones but his headed effort was blocked on the line.

Six minutes before the break Angels substitute Mo Dabre fired wide.

A further Bluebird corner just before the break saw Freddie Grant’s headed effort tipped over by Jonathan Henly.

HALF TIME: Tonbridge Angels 1-0 Chippenham Town

Six minutes after the break Nathan Odokonyero, on-loan from Ebbsfleet United, headed onto the top of the net.

Tonbridge doubled their lead on fifty six minutes with a well-worked goal scored by Shields.

Midway through the half Caine Bradbury found substitute Craig Fasanmade whose shot was blocked for a corner; the resulting flag kick ending with Tyreke Johnson blazing over.

On seventy eight minutes Shields crossed but Gard fired over a minute later McClure played Fasanmade in but from a tight angle his shot went wide. Five minutes from time Hinds received his second yellow card and the hosts had to play out time with ten men.

Bradbury then saw a shot blocked on eighty eight minutes whilst in stoppage time McClure met a corner but his effort was saved by Henly.

Substitute Dan Ellison found the net deep into stoppage time but his effort was ruled out for off side.
