MATCH REPORT: Truro City 1-1 Chippenham Town | National League South | Tuesday 5th November 2024
A sell out crowd, partly attracted by the live music and firework display and also the Tinners inaugural game under lights for their first team at the new stadium in Langarth.
The kick-off was delayed by five minutes due to the pyrotechnics.
The Bluebirds scored late on only for the home side to level in the final minute of stoppage time.
Chippenham were the first to show with Harry Parsons’ fourth minute shot from distance being off-target.
At the other end former Bluebird Tom Harrison headed wide following a long throw.
On fourteen minutes Jaze Kabia shot over the Chippenham bar.
Five minutes later Tom Owen-Evans slipped in the act of shooting and Dan Lavercombe was able to gather.
Christian Oxlaide-Chamberlain, on loan from National North side Kidderminster Harriers, then controlled the ball before shooting wide.
A flurry of action on twenty seven minutes then saw the league’s top scorer Tyler Harvey’s shot blocked by Will Henry and two follow up efforts from Andrew Neal and Will Dean were blocked before Freddie Grant stopped a shot on the line.
Either side of the half hour the Cornish side won two corners, the second led to a long throw which ended with a shot going wide.
Tom Mehew was then fouled in the area but the referee pulled the game back for a previous Truro foul and Tom Owen-Evans was booked for his protests.
A slick free kick routine followed with Grant heading wide, whilst at the other end a Neal shot hit the side netting.
