MATCH REPORT: Worthing 4-1 Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 12th April 2025
Worthing who started the day in second place on goal difference from Truro enhanced their promotion chances as they recorded a double over the Bluebirds.
The Rebels were the first to show on six minutes as Temi Babalola headed over.
Three minutes later Jack Spong’s corner was headed into the side netting by Joe Cook.
Just after the quarter hour mark the Rebels Danny Cashman tried his luck from sixty yards out but his shot went wide.
Worthing took the lead on seventeen minutes when Joe Andrews lost possession in the middle of the park and the ball was played forward to Babalola who deceived
Jac Poffley before hitting home a low shot. On thirty one minutes Harry Parsons’ fierce shot was stopped by a Worthing hand in the area but missed by the referee but as play continued Tyreke Johnson was brought down and a penalty was awarded and converted by Matt McClure.
Five minutes before the break Caine Bradbury’s free kick beat the wall but was beaten out by Lucas Covolan, whilst at the other end Alex Bray cleared Spong’s shot off the line.
In stoppage time Mo Faal failed with a shot from close range.
In the fifth minute of stoppage time Faal’s shot hit both posts before entering the net.
HALF TIME: Worthing 2-1 Chippenham Town
Six minutes after the break Faal notched his second as he headed home Worthing’s third.
On fifty five minutes Cashman again failed with a long distance shot. Babalolo then netted Worthing’s fourth as he too recorded a double on fifty seven minutes.
Faal wasted the chance of a hat trick when he shot wide from close in.
On sixty nine minutes the Bluebirds hit the woodwork as McClure’s headed effort hit the bar.
On seventy three minutes Spong hit a shot wide.
Will Henry then turned a Nicky Wheeler effort behind for a fruitless corner.
Substitute Tommy Willard’s shot was then blocked on the line by Bluebird substitute Freddie Grant.
