MATCH REPORT: Yate Town 0-1 Chippenham Town | Pre-Season Friendly | Monday 10th July 2023

In an entertaining game the Bluebirds fielded two different outfield sides in each half consisting of a mixture of first team, trialists and Academy players.

The Bluebirds largely dominated proceedings especially the second half where they squandered many chances as they looked a little ring rusty but came out on top thanks to a goal from Otis Lewis.

The defence were also given a workout by a workmanlike home side who themselves fielded a number of trialists.

The first chance of note fell in the tenth minute as Luke Spokes found Matt McClure who hit a snap shot to no avail.

Four minutes later a trialist found Tyreke Johnson whose attempted lob went straight to the keeper.

On twenty six minutes Spokes drove over and just after the half hour McClure hit the top of the bar.

Before the interval Yate’s Kyle Tooze was one on one but he was denied by a combination of keeper Joel Manning and a defender whilst McClure’s shot was saved and at the other end Manning denied Dylan Lewis. 

HALF TIME: Yate Town 0-0 Chippenham Town

After the break Will King’s through ball found Craig Fasanmade who was just off target.

Fasanmade then saw a shot blocked by the keeper who did well to save Owen Windsor’s follow-up before a defender cleared off the line.

As Chippenham continued to press Lewis and Windsor combined to present Jake Evans with an opportunity but his shot was saved.

Fasanmade was then through on goal but was robbed by a defender.

On sixty three minutes a long range Lewis effort dipped over the bar.

Five minutes later Ed Jones’ long speculative effort was wide.

On sixty nine minutes Lewis failed to round the keeper but made amends a minute later as Windsor squared the ball to him and he found the net.

On seventy three minutes Lewis found Evans whose shot was blocked by the keeper’s foot.

Three minutes later Fasanmade again went clear but his shot was blocked by the keeper before the same player then shot wide.

On eighty two minutes Jones’ cross was headed wide by Lewis, Lewis then found Fasanmade who was again off target. Two minutes from time Jones found Windsor but to no avail.
