Supporters Coach Travel to Worthing FC – Saturday 20th August

Published: at 10:20pm

Dear Valued Supporters,

Following the events of the recent home fixture against Chelmsford City, it is with a tremendous sense of relief that we can announce that the players will return to action this Saturday against Worthing in the Vanarama National League South.

Chippenham Town has always been a special football club in all the years I have been following them, and it was never more evident than on Saturday amidst a horrible situation, the way the officials, staff, players and supporters offered each other comfort and came together was truly something to behold. As a football club, we have taken measures to ensure the players have received the absolute best support in the aftermath of Saturday’s events with the cancellation of the Oxford City game on Tuesday night to ensure the lads are in the right frame of mind to return to football after the game on Saturday obviously left football taking a back seat in terms of everyone’s priority.

However, with Pablo due to make a full recovery and the lads looking to honour their teammate with a big performance on Saturday, we as a club are sending a plea to you, our wonderful supporters to get down to Worthing and give these lads the support that now more than ever, they totally deserve. The back of last season was special. Trips to Havant, Dartford and Ebbsfleet on the coaches were enjoyed by all and the camaraderie of the players and supporters alike on unfamiliar territory has been described as “vital” by Chippenham Town manager, Gary Horgan.

Neil Blackmore (CTFC Chairman) has announced that the club will run a Supporters Coach to Worthing to assist as many supporters as possible to get down to the game and offer their support as they have so many times before. “Now more than ever, these players deserve your support, not just on the pitch for footballing reasons but to get them through something that no footballer should ever have to face. The scenes at the TS Stadium on Saturday were of course terrible, however if any silver lining can be found, it is the strength and courage of our staff, players and supporters to rally around Pablo and each other to ensure this tragic circumstance had a positive ending. We need you again this weekend, we need you to be there for our players, for each other and show the rest of the footballing world that Chippenham will always come back stronger following adversity. I know I can count on you to do this, you have always been a wonderful fan base during my tenure and I am proud to be Chairman of such a wonderful club”

The coach will depart Bristol Road Car Park at 10:30 AM. Please arrive in plenty of time to grab your seat and ensure a swift departure for Worthing.

Tickets are priced at £18 which in respect of any other method of transport is absolutely fantastically priced. A stop is scheduled on the way to Worthing assuming traffic and timing is looking good, the coach will have toilet facilities and as always, please ensure if you are bringing refreshments that they are sensible and sensitive to other travellers. You can book your ticket by emailing community@chippenhamtown.com. You can also e-mail commercial@chippenhamtown.com, and it will be passed on accordingly. Furthermore, you can also pay on the day, Jonny will be at the ground from 10 AM to take money from anyone deciding to join us for the trip.

I cannot stress enough that this is a big game for our season. The lads couldn’t have done more both last season and at the start of this to deserve the kind of support that we saw against the likes of Havant and Ebbsfleet last season, if you can make it, please do.

Your support as always is invaluable but at this time, it could well prove itself essential.

Yours in Sport,

Simon Lawrence
Commercial Manager and Supporter
