MATCH PREVIEW: Enfield Town VS Chippenham Town | Saturday 20th September | National League South

Published: at 12:35pm

We preview the trip to Enfield, following a week of cup success.

CTFC are on the road for the second of three consecutive away matches, as we head to north London to face Enfield Town.

The Week in SN14

This week in Chippenham has been all about cup success, with progression in both the FA Cup and the FA Youth Cup.

For the first team, a late comeback away at Gloucester earned us a tie away at Walton & Hersham in the next round, with the academy progressing thanks to a penalty shootout victory against local rivals Melksham.

The opposition

Enfield Town, formed in 2001, started life in the Essex Senior League and took just 11 seasons to reach step three of the pyramid. They would have 12 seasons in the Isthmian Premier division and with their fourth attempt in the playoffs, they defeated Wingate & Finchley and Chatham en route to step two. Last year was their debut season in the National League South, and they finished just above the drop zone.

Enfield have started the league season with one victory, three draws and four defeats. Like us they have suffered defeats to Hornchurch and Weston-super-Mare, and the Towners sit just above the relegation zone after eight matches.

In their last match, in the FA Cup, they faced local rivals Enfield FC for the first time in 14 years. Goals from Sam Youngs, Lamar Reynolds and Ollie Knight confirmed their spot in the next round as they host Quorn.

Previous meetings

We have faced the Towners just twice both in league competition last season. Our most recent was an away 0-0 draw in March of 2025. Will Henry was awarded the Man of the Match award, as he made several crucial saves to keep the score a stalemate.

The reverse fixture was the complete antonym a fantastic for the neutral 3-2 victory, with Aaron Amadi-Holloway coming from the bench to score in the final moments.

Dangermen

Youngs, scorer on Saturday, is an attacking midfielder and has been at Enfield since 2017. He netted 17 goals in league action for the Towners last season and has one goal and two assists in the National League South this season.

Reynolds, another FA cup scorer, is an experienced winger with just shy of 150 appearances in the National League South. He has played against us seven times across his career, which has spanned Braintree, Concord and Maidstone, but yet to score against us. Reynolds was a part of the Maidstone squad to reach FA Cup Fifth Round, and he scored and assisted away at Ipswich Town. A season spell at Morton in the Scottish championship preceded a return to English non-league with this weekendโ€™s opposition.
