MATCH REPORT: Hungerford Town 1-1 Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 28th January 2023

A stoppage time equalizer saw the Bluebirds come away from Berkshire with a deserved point against Hungerford Town who finished with ten men.


The first chance fell to the Bluebirds on eight minutes as Harry Parsons’ curling shot just went wide.

Four minutes later a Chippenham corner saw debutant Matt McClure’s shot blocked.

A further corner then saw Will Richards’ effort blocked by the Crusaders defence.

As Chippenham continued to press a corner on eighteen minutes ended with Joe Hanks blazing over.

Midway through the half Leighton Tuodolo’s throw found Parsons who shot against the bar.

At the other end George Smith fired over whilst Dan Roberts headed wide from a Ryan Jones cross.

Just before the half hour Hanks was fouled by former Bluebird Rhys Tyler and the Chippenham man took the free kick himself and his effort was saved by Jed Ward.

Just after the half hour a Chippenham corner saw Jones clear the ball off the line after a scramble in the box.

Three minutes before the break a Crusaders throw was flicked on by Kyle Bailey to Jake Evans whose effort went over the bar.

HALF TIME: Hungerford Town 0-0 Chippenham Town

Four minutes into the second half Will Tizzard had to be substituted and a minute later Hungerford took the lead as Roberts found Joel Rollinson who tapped home.

Rollinson almost notched his double on sixty five minutes but Will Henry made a good save to deny him.

On seventy five minutes a good build-up saw McClure’s low shot from outside of the area go narrowly wide.

Four minutes later the Bluebirds had appeals for a penalty turned down and as the hosts broke forward Henry did well to deny Christie Ward.

On eighty two minutes Ward made a good save to deny the Bluebirds an equalizer.

Four minutes from time Hungerford’s Jones received his marching orders for picking up his second yellow card.

As the home side decided to defend deep in the first minute of stoppage time substitute Craig Fasanmade rescued a point for the Bluebirds as he slotted home from close range following a scramble in the box.
