MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 0-1 Weston-super-Mare AFC | National League South | Tuesday 5th March 2024

Published: at 1:03pm

Chippenham went down to a disappointing ninth home league defeat as they really never got going against an efficient Weston Super Mare side.

In a game of few chances the Somerset side scored the only goal of the game four minutes before the break as a defensive error allowed Dayle Grubb to play the ball into Rex Mannings who just beat Will Henry to the ball to slide it into the net.

The Seagulls forced two fruitless corners inside the opening five minutes, whilst on seven minutes a Bluebirds cross came of the leg of Weston centre back Jason Pope and narrowly avoided going into the net at the expense of a corner.

Lloyd Humphries then shot wide whilst a Weston shot deflected to Henry.

Seven minutes before the break Caine Bradbury dragged a shot wide whilst Jake Evans’ volley also missed the target.

At the start of the second half Luke Haines’ dipping shot went over whilst midway through the half substitute Ed Williams shot was saved by Max Harris.

On seventy minutes a Bluebird free kick was headed over by Dan Ellison.

Seven minutes from time good work from Aaron Amadi-Holloway set up Williams who found the net but the whistle had already gone for an infringement.

A minute from time Amadi-Holloway headed over from a free kick. In stoppage time Amadi-Holloway’s headed effort from a cross went straight at Harris whilst Weston’s Humphries fired over.
