MATCH REPORT: Welling United 0-0 Chippenham Town | National League South | Saturday 28th October 2023

The Bluebirds returned from Welling with a well-deserved point on a heavy pitch, although they paid the price with injuries to Jake Evans and Alex Bray.


Chippenham were the first to show on six minutes as Ed Williams found Eddie Jones whose cross was headed wide by Matt McClure.

Two minutes later the Wings Tristan Abrahams’ effort was blocked.

Five minutes after that Kain Adom’s shot from the edge of the area went over.

On the quarter hour mark Jones’s shot from an angle was saved by Javarn Pitterson.

Two minutes after good work from Caine Bradbury and Luke Spokes ended with McClure’s effort going over the bar.

On eighteen minutes Williams presented Evans with a shooting chance and his effort went narrowly wide.

Six minutes later Evans went down injured and was stretchered off and replaced by Mal Nicholls.

Just after the half hour Abrahams saw his effort blocked by the Bluebird defence.

On thirty four minutes Will Henry saved the Bluebirds as he came out on top in a one on one with Jephte Tanga.

Six minutes later the same player was again denied as Henry pulled off a diving save.

HALF TIME: Welling United 0-0 Chippenham Town

The opening minute of the second half saw McClure head just wide, whilst a minute later a long throw ended with Spokes hitting an effort wide.

On fifty six minutes substitute Anthony Papadopoulos’ shot was easily gathered by Henry.

Two minutes later Dominic Odusanya took advantage of a defensive error and an interchange with Adom ended with the former drawing another fine save from Henry.

Just after the hour Cameron Green’s low cross saw Adom’s shot graze a post.

A minute later Adom again met a cross but was denied by Henry and as the ball ran loose Jack Burchall volleyed over.

Midway through the half Abrahams shot over from a narrow angle.

On eighty four minutes Spoke’s speculative shot was wide before Welling’s Lewis White’s low shot was held by Henry.

Three minutes later a defensive error allowed Abrahams to shoot but Henry again denied him.

In the fifth minute of stoppage time Amazon Kassarate’s rasping shot was superbly tipped over by Henry.
