MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 0-3 Havant & Waterlooville | National League South | Tues 15th November 2022

Published: at 1:52pm

The Bluebirds miserable league form continued as they were well beaten by Havant and Waterlooville, to remain entrenched in the relegation zone.

The match was played under the gaze of Dino Maamria manager of FA Cup opponents Burton Albion; he left the ground well before the end.

The match was effectively over inside the half-hour as the Hawks scored all three of their goals.

The Hampshire side were the first to show on nine minutes as Benny Read crossed for Ethan Burnett to head wide.

The Hawks took the lead three minutes later as Billy Clifford cleverly scooped the ball over the Bluebirds’ backline into the path of Muhammed Faal who volleyed home.

The second goal came on twenty three minutes as Joe Newton broke away before whipping the ball to the back post for James Roberts to convert.

The third was to follow five minutes later when Callum Gunner clipped Newton in the area and Roberts netted from the resulting penalty.

Just after the half hour Roberts was denied his hattrick as his deflected effort was saved by Will Henry.

On thirty three minutes the Bluebirds fashioned their first chance as Harry Parsons’ twenty five yard shot brushed the top of the net.

Before the break Parsons went down in the area but the referee ignored penalty appeals.

HALF TIME: Chippenham Town 0-3 Havant & Waterlooville

After the interval Craig Fasanmade made a welcome return after a lengthy injury and he was immediately in action as he got on the end of an Aaron Simpson cross but former Bluebird loanee keeper Brad House saved.

On forty nine minutes Gunner’s thirty yard shot was blocked for a corner.

Just past the hour mark Faal dinked the ball over Henry but Simpson cleared off the line.

Havant substitute Gianni Crichlow failed to take advantage of a chance, whilst Henry palmed away two efforts from Roberts.

Fasanmade then did well to beat several defenders but could not beat House.

In the final minute of normal time substitute Jason Prior found Roberts who shot wide whilst a minute later Clifford’s shot from distance went straight at Henry.
