MATCH REPORT: Enfield Town 1-0 Chippenham Town | National League South

Published: at 8:26pm

Riley Newman reports on our defeat in the capital.

Inside 5 minutes the first chance fell to Enfield with Adom-Malaki taking a free kick from range which goes wide of Will Henry’s near post for a goal kick.

The only goal of the match went to the hosts inside 20 minutes from a corner where the ball was swung in and headed in by Henry Hawkins for 1-0.

Chippenham first real chance of the half happens at 24 minutes from Tom Mehew playing in Henry Sady, on the right hand side of the opposition’s box, who then shoots with power that cannons off the crossbar for an Enfield goal kick.

Another chance for Chippenham after 39 minutes as Jake Evans pulls the ball across the six yard box waiting for a Chippenham player to slam it home but no one is there.

Last chance of the half again falls to Chippenham as Tom Owen-Evans swings in a corner which is palmed to Henry Sady who’s rebound is unfortunately weak and saved by the Enfield keeper.

Half time Enfield 1-0 Chippenham

After just a minute into the second half a looping ball is played over the Chippenham defence and who else but Henry is there to save the resulting shot with his feet.

On the 48th Minute a solid build up from Chippenham and the ball is played to Reece Fleet on the edge of the area who’s effort is well over the crossbar.

A penalty shout in 57 minutes as Ethan Vaughan collects the scraps and drives forward into the area and seems to be pulled down by the Enfield defender but our claims for a pen are waved away.

70 minutes into the game and a scuffle ensues between Dan Ellison and Tommy Wood in the centre of the pitch where it seems Ellison was struck in the face but both of the players fall to the floor. The referee pauses the game to speak to his officials in which his final decision results in booking both captains Haines and Parcell and a drop ball for Chippenham.

Last Chance for Chippenham in the 90+6 minute to try and claw a point from this uneventful afternoon, Olaf Kozela breaks into the Enfield area and shoots but if effort is saved by Forster.

Full time Enfield walked away with three points in a rather dull game in North London. Next week is back to FA cup action against Walton & Hersham FC
