MATCH REPORT: Bath City 1-0 Chippenham Town | National League South | Friday 3rd April 2026

Published: at 7:00pm

Chippenham defeated at the death.

A stoppage-time goal condemned the Bluebirds to defeat in the A4 Derby, despite a dominant performance at Twerton Park.

Chippenham started brightly, creating early openings through Luke Haines and Anointed Chukwu as both had shots that tested stand in goalkeeper Charlie Binns in the City goal.

Caine Bradbury and Tom Mehew both saw efforts from range dealt with by blocks from the hosts.

The best chance of the first half fell to Mehew, whose strike was tipped over and while Harry Parsons went close with an acrobatic effort that drifted just over the bar.

Parsons was then denied the oppurtinity to shoot from close range by a stray Bath City tackle, the referee did not award a penalty.

The Bluebirds continued to press after the break, with Billy Phillips forcing a smart save and Anointed Chukwu denied one-on-one after being played through by full back Will King.

Bradbury remained influential, going close himself and delivering dangerous balls into the area, with Luke Haines seeing a free header saved from a corner.

As the game entered its final stages, Chippenham pushed for a winner, with Phillips heading narrowly over and Mehew attempting an ambitious bicycle kick that drifted wide.

Bath City had their first chance late on, as substitute Scott Wilson had a shot from close range hit the post as CTFC brought on reinforcements in the shape of Olaf Koszela and Tom Owen-Evans and reverted to a back three.

Deep into stoppage time a City counter attack landed at the feet of Scott Wilson again from close range and CTFC keeper Will Henry could do nothing to stop the finish. Bath’s only shot on target of the match resulting in the only goal of the tie.
