MATCH REPORT: Chippenham Town 0-2 Westbury | Wiltshire Premier Shield | Tuesday 9th November

CTFC departed the Wiltshire Premier Shield, as an academy heavy side battled well against a strong Westbury side.

After a cagey 10 mins played, the first half chance fell to Chippenham after a cross to Wanjau-Smith forced an audacious scorpion flick landed at the keepers’ feet.

The first chance for Westbury was a header that was cleared of the line by Ollie Smith ending up in a corner for Westbury.

After just under 30 minutes played, Westbury put a dangerous ball into the Chippenham box and Sardo struggled to hold on to it landing to a Westbury player whose shot was blocked of the line by yet again, this time by Jac Poffley.

A few minutes later Chippenham went up the other end with a short corner which was played to the inside edge of the box and a shot from Touray was saved onto the bar by Westbury’s Joel Manning.

First chance of the half fell to Westbury with deep corner that was played in and headed back across goal where Westbury’s Cockerill headed it into Sardo’s arms.

A strange one for Sardo as he picked up the ball twice which resulted in an indirect free kick for Westbury; however, it was wasted after the shot was blasted into the wall and Chippenham dealt with the rebound.

First chance of the half for Chippenham fell after ten second half minutes after some great individual play from Henry Sady found him in a good place to cross which was deep fell to Harry Parsons who played to the edge of the box to Will King who slipped and dragged his shot wide. 

59 minutes in found the first goal of the game with a great ball in from a free kick seen Westbury’s Cockerill head it in the top right to send Westbury 1-0 up.

With 15 left to play the subs had sparked some life into Chippenham which was seen when Wanjau-Smith played a ball round the corner to put substitute Vozza 1 on 1 with the keeper who forced a low, strong save out of keeper Manning.

A second goal for Westbury in the 83rd minute made it 2-0 and it came from a header from Josh Jenkins coming from a corner and a header at the back post that was thundered in at the bottom corner.
